7:00 AM Train arrives Union Station, Washington, D.C.
Everyone is on their own to find transport to our headquarters ~ The Beacon House. Metro, buses, cabs are available. Beacon House is about a 9 minute walk from closest metro station.
The rest of the day is a FREE DAY. You may spend the time resting at Beacon House and/or touring the city. There is a list of suggestions attached.
11:00 P M Time to return to Beacon House. Doors are locked at 11 PM!

4:00 AM Metro begins continual runs to The Mall. Diehards can leave early to be in line.
7:00 AM The Mall is open to the public
10:30 AM The Inaugural Program begins
11:30 AM The Inauguration of Barack Obama as President of US
2:30 PM Inaugural Parade begins at Pennsylvania Avenue ~ John will have parade route
The parade will be televised back at Beacon House
6:00 PM Pot Luck Dinner at Beacon House
11:00 PM Time to return to the Beacon House Doors are locked at 11 PM!

Important Notes & Tips

Accommodations will be at Beacon House, a Unitarian-Universalist Community Building.
Bring sleeping bags, pillows, towels, washcloths.
All meals are on our own! We are allowed kitchen privileges. Everyone is responsible to clean up after him or herself!! There is a food market in walking distance of Beacon House.
A Mc Donald's fast food restaurant across the street.
Verizon DSL internet feeds are available but no WIFI in our building that we know about.
There are Television screens for watching if the weather is too harsh to stand outside for the Inauguration and/or the parade.
There are sinks, and toilets but no shower facilities.

Everyone must be on time for the buses and trains! Obviously, they will not wait for you. If you miss all of the buses, your last chance will be to drive to Providence.

We will not be able to bring sleeping bags, overnight bags, etc. into the Capital Building. If you are not with the group, please make arrangements for your luggage. Within the Beacon House group, John is working on arrangements

During free time on Monday and Tuesday, you may wish to visit a few of our national museums at The Mall. They are all offering free admission.
A 1-day ticket is available for $27 pp. A ticket holder can board at will at any of the tour stops along the route. Tickets can be purchased online : www.tourmobile.com/tours
