Is This Civilized Discussion?

Is this civilized discussion? Every other Monday — the next one will be Aug. 25 — a group of Barack Obama supporters get together from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Starbucks in the Harwich Stop & Shop.

They drink coffee, munch snacks and talk about the campaign. It's been a regular get-together for several months now.

Last Monday, a middle-aged woman with two grown adult in their offspring, in their late 20's, early 30's showed up and tried to shout down the 20 or so Obama supporters.

The three identified themselves as "independents".

When asked to calm down, one said: "This is still America. I have a right to say what I want to say."

Not a courtesy afforded to those who organized the "Obama Meet Up," as these get-togethers are called. The three were asked to leave, but in their wake left behind some very shaken people.
